Bio

I am a poet, editor, and educator, wife and mother.   I have an MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry, from Goddard College; an MA in English from Western CT State University (creative thesis, fictional novella, with critical scholarship); a BS Cum Laude in Music , Mercy College; and a Professional Artist Diploma in Music Theory and Composition from Westchester Conservatory of Music.  I received departmental honors in Music from Mercy College, a composition scholarship from the conservatory, and won both the New York State, College Category of the MTNA Student Music Composition Award and Eastern Division, MTNA Student Music Composition Award, studying with Ruth Schonthal, for my piece entitled, Fragments for Five.

My full-length poetry books include Voices Through Skin, (Sibling Rivalry Press), a poem from this book “Her Rituals” was a poetry finalist for the OCD Foundation’s Dare to Believe Contest; Painting Czeslawa Kwoka~Honoring Children of the Holocaust, full-color collaboration with Painter, Lori Schreiner (unbound CONTENT), which won a Tacenda Literary Award for Best Book; chapbooks: The Music of Hands (new revised second Webbook and print editions, Seven CirclePress, print first edition, retired); and Green (republished, Finishing Line Press; first published by Another New Calligraphy with an accompanying cd of my digital reinterpretation of the first movement of my piano sonata that I wrote 30 years ago (Pauline Lederer, pianist). 

 

My new poetry book, Becoming Couldn't Sing for Anyone (Small Harbor Publishing), was published November 2022.  Poems and excerpts from this book can be found in Stirring, Thrush Poetry Journal, Coldfront This Morning, Gargoyle Magazine, The Nervous Breakdown, UCity Review, Rise Up Review, diode poetry journal, Rogue Agent, Mom Egg Review, Menacing Hedge, Harbor Review, dialogist, SWWIM, Verse Daily,  Whale Road Review, The Shore Poetry, Recenter Press Poetry Journal, PANK, The Hunger, and other fine journals.

I was editor in chief and a poetry editor for The American Poetry Journal, a senior poetry editor for Harbor Review, poetry reader for Vita Poetica, and poetry editor for Pawling Living. I am currently a poetry editor for Cider Press Review, managing editor for Rise Up Review and poetry editor for Emerge Literary Journal.  I was nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize, once for Best of the Net and Best Small Fictions Anthology, received two writing residencies (2015 & 2018) from Drop Forge & Tool (DF&T), writing residencies (2019 & 2022) from Craigardan, and was a poetry mentor for the 2020 and 2021 COUNTERCLOCK Arts Collective.
